This year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony taking place at the London Palladium is now just over a week away and Harry Kane could wind up edging out Lamine Yamal. The Bayern Munich and England striker winning the award in London would be a dream come true and a poetic crescendo to what’s been an absolutely amazing 18 months for the England skipper. Even if Kane winds up missing out to Barcelona and Spain’s Yamal, or perhaps even Real Madrid and France’s Kylian Mbappé.
Nonetheless, Kane will be fully focused
on Bayern’s upcoming matches, especially after drawing two straight matches after the international break to Augsburg in the Bundesliga and Viking FK in the Champions League. Despite the poor results, Kane was still on top form having tallied two assists in the 2-2 draw with Augsburg and two goals in the 3-3 draw with Viking FK, though he’ll be hoping Bayern gets back in the win column.
There’s also the small matter of Kane’s contract situation at the club looming large in the background. His current contract with the club runs through June 2027, but the two sides have — allegedly — agreed on a new deal.
That is great news for Bayern Munich, but now it will be a matter of when the two sides make an announcement if the news is true.
Per information from Bild’s Julian Agardi and Christian Falk (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern is also hopeful, and would prefer, that they can announce Kane’s completed contract extension before the Ballon d’Or ceremony on the 26th of this month. The ceremony is just one day after Bayern’s tricky away trip to take on SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga and two days before their second-round DFB-Pokal clash against FC Magdeburg.
So when will the two sides get together and announce this thing?
