AEW star Ricochet has become known for stirring the pot on social media, but a recent comment directed at a fan with multiple sclerosis has left many fans saying he went too far.
After departing WWE for AEW in 2024, Ricochet was initially a babyface in Tony Khan’s company. However, he soon turned heel, and after doing so, ramped up his social media activity with insulting jabs thrown at fans.
His posts on X (Twitter) have ranged from casually insulting wrestling fans to dropping casual misogyny about
his wife Samantha Irvin making him sandwiches. He also hasn’t held back on attacking his former employer, saying WWE “took my love of pro wrestling away.”
“I’ll never forget how I felt walking into work every week,” Ricochet wrote on X in February. “And that platform was only to make others look good at my expense. And I told them, I’d rather quit and go back to the indies and make whatever I’d make there than to come back next week.”
But his comment on Monday directed towards a fan with multiple sclerosis crossed a line for many people.
The controversy occurred after AEW posted a clip on X of Ricochet destroying a backstage area following his loss of the AEW National Championship in Sunday’s Blackjack Battle Royal at Revolution.
An X user who goes be the name Sandi T. posted in the comments: “His acting hasn’t improved.”
This remark resulted in Ricochet going after Sandi T., whose X bio mentions her battle with MS (multiple sclerosis).
“I’m glad you got MS,” Ricochet responded to her comment.
Sandi T. replied: “Well if that makes you happy have a great life …”
As defined by the National Institute of Health (NIH), MS “is a chronic neurological disorder. It’s an autoimmune disorder, meaning that in MS, the immune system—which normally protects us from viruses, bacteria, and other threats—mistakenly attacks healthy cells.”
According to the NIH, “MS affects people differently. A small number of people with MS will have mild symptoms with little disability, but others will experience worsening symptoms that will lead to increased disability over time.”
Fan backlash was swift, with one X user posting: “I still like ricochet the performer and will continue to. I think you’re probably one of the most underutilized talents ever and I wanted so badly for you to succeed in WWE, I’m glad you are now in AEW. However as someone who has loved ones with MS, that sucked to read man.”
“This is disgusting, my GRANDMA died of MS a couple years ago, this is nothing to troll about. @TonyKhan should be embarrassed to have this man on his payroll,” another person wrote.
Ricochet later deleted his comment to Sandi. T before posting a defense that attacked social media users who write about him and Irvin.
“Its soooo hilarious that the amount of little bitches who has tweeted and wished harm on me, who has wished even death, said some of the most VILE things to me AND my wife. People who try and make fun of me EVERYDAY. But those same little bitches can’t take it when I do it back to people,” he wrote. “F***ing p***ies, everywhere.”
What do you think? Did Ricochet go far this time, or is he just extremely committed to his heel work? Let us know in the comments.
