Truly great performances in the NFL never go unnoticed. Rookie tight end Oronde Gadsden’s magnificent outing against the Colts this past Sunday was the talk of the football world in the days that followed
because, well, how often does a day three rookie go for 164 yards and a touchdown on just seven catches? Especially a guy who wasn’t even active for the first two games of the year?
Well, the NFL was finally put on notice about the potential of the young Chargers pass catcher and the league gave him his flowers by naming Gadsden the Pepsi Rookie of the Week.
Gadsden’s postgame accolade is the latest in a young season that also saw rookie running back Omarion Hampton earn the Angry Runs scepter from NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt via his show Good Morning Football following his ferocious charge through the Giants defense in Week Four.
With plenty of season left, I don’t think it’s crazy to expect much more from Gadsden as the season rolls on.
Will he break 1,000 yards? Become a bigger focal point of the offense? I sure can’t wait to find out!
