Lennart Karl has made yet another positive milestone in his injury recovery for Bayern Munich as he works his way back from a muscular injury he sustained in Germany’s training camp ahead of the World Cup. He missed the final tune-up friendly against the United States in Chicago and what would’ve been his first major tournament in the senior squad due to the injury and could’ve played a big part for Julian Nagelsmann, possibly helping prevent Die Mannschaft from crashing out of the tournament in the round
of 32 against Paraguay.
Per Bayern’s official web site, Karl has resumed ball work in training along with Serge Gnabry, who has been recovering from an injury of his own suffered towards the end of the season with Bayern. Getting touches on the ball for Karl follows up the milestone he reached last week at Säbener Straße when he was able to resume running on the training pitch under the guidance of Bayern’s trainers and physios.
For Vincent Kompany, this is a massive boost as he gets set to start preparations for the 2026/27 season, especially since a lot of his international stars that played in the World Cup will be getting extended time off before the join up with the rest of the squad. He might not even have his full squad back by the time Bayern jets off to South Korea and Hong Kong for their preseason tour. That trip takes places just a few weeks before the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Borussia Dortmund (August 22nd) at the Westfalenstadion.
For Karl, he’ll be looking to get back to 100% match fitness and improve upon what was already a breakout 2025/26 season, though he did miss a handful of matches at the end of the season through injury. He’ll be looking to better his tally of 9 goals and 8 assists from the 39 appearances he made across all competitions, though there will be a bit more competition with the arrival of Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven in Bayern’s attack.
