Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has confirmed that Lamine Yamal and Fermín López will return to the squad for Saturday’s La Liga match against Catalan rivals Girona.
The coach offered an update on the attacking
duo and said that they will be involved in the match, but also said they are not ready to play 90 minutes yet. Flick also revealed that players from La Masia could get a chance on Saturday given the many injuries in attack.
“I can’t do anything. We have to find solutions. Lamine and Fermín are back, but they can’t play 90 minutes. If we play at a good level, we can beat anyone. The important thing is to start the game well. We have to play at our best, and that’s what I expect from the team.
“In attack, we’ve lost a lot of players in recent weeks. We have several options. There are players we’ll get back who might not be at the right physical level. There are players from La Masia who might be an option tomorrow.”
Barça have two crucial games after this one against Olympiacos in the Champions League and the massive El Clásico against Real Madrid next weekend, so Flick will have to be smart about managing the minutes and the fitness of his best players and those just returning from injury to ensure they will be at their best in the two big matches ahead.
