A familiar face has returned to take an open spot at Gillette Stadium.
The New England Patriots officially re-signed defensive tackle Fabien Lovett Sr. to the practice squad on Tuesday, as Aaron Wilson
of KPRC 2 reported.
Lovett, 25, first joined the practice squad in Foxborough entering Labor Day weekend. He was released at the end of September, however, and stayed unsigned through a tour of workouts around the NFL since then.
Originally entering the league as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024, Lovett spent the entirety of his rookie year on the practice squad of the reigning AFC West champions. The 6-foot-3, 316-pound defensive lineman out of Mississippi State and Florida State was retained on a futures contract after Super Bowl LIX in February. He was later waived at the league’s 53-man roster deadline in August after appearing all three preseason games and recording two tackles.
The Patriots stood with a pair of vacancies on the practice squad. A single vacancy remains.
After promoting rookie pass-rusher Bradyn Swinson to the active roster over the weekend, rookie tight end C.J. Dippre ran the same route for the organization on Monday. In additional movement, linebacker Otis Reese was signed to the practice squad as three-time standard elevation Darius Harris landed on injured reserve and does not currently count against the 17-man limit.
The Cincinnati Bengals host head coach Mike Vrabel and the 9-2 AFC East leaders on Sunday. Kickoff at Paycor Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET.
