We are still a week or two away from the Premier League’s summer transfer window opening, but the club is still working on contracts.
Liverpool announced on Friday that 19 year old Kieran Morrison has signed a new contract to remain with the club, after starting with the Academy at the U14 level. He’s naturally still a minor so the details on the length of the contract are still under wraps.
Morrison has had a spectacular campaign for the U21s, including receiving the captain’s armband earlier in 2026
and a nomination for Premier League 2 Player of the Season. He featured twice for the senior squad this season, making his debut in the Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Crystal Palace at Anfield in October. Morrison scored 14 goals and provided four assists in the 2025-26 season, and received his first international call up for Northern Ireland in January.
“It’s been a massive improvement from last year. That was my goal this year – just to impact myself and PL2 as much as I can,” Morrison told the club website upon his signing.
“I think I’ve done quite well.
“As a team, we wanted to get further in the play-offs but we’ve come a long way as a team, especially with Rob, the new manager, and obviously me becoming captain during it. It just shows how much we’ve come [along] since the beginning of the season.
“So, I’m really proud of my performances and the team’s performances. I always set targets and this season I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot of my targets. So, hopefully next season goes just as well.”
Locking down a promising young talent is a good move for the club, although utilizing him in the future will be the bigger question.
