The basketball rankings are turning into the volleyball rankings in that Purdue is hovering in that 12 to 9 range, which is great nationally, but it is still fifth among Big Ten teams. The league is very
top heavy this year, as it has five top 12 teams, but no one else in the rankings. Michigan moved up to No. 2 this week by beating a pair of top 10 teams, while Nebraska tumbled a bit with two losses to top ten teams.
Purdue, meanwhile, stays the same. The Boilermakers did lose at Indiana last week, but the pollsters kept them at 12 after blowing out Maryland in College Park yesterday. It is also a light week with only Oregon coming on Saturday before a huge two-game road swing to Nebraska and Iowa next week that will decide if Purdue still has a shot to win the Big Ten or not. The narrow losses to UCLA, Illinois, and Indiana continue to sting.
