Daniel Marcos, as expected, did not remain a free agent for long.
The 18-1 bantamweight, who rose to fame on Dana White’s “Contender Series” in late 2022 before putting together a 5-1 record for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), recently put pen to paper with Professional Fighters League (PFL) and is expected to make his SmartCage debut later this year.
“Grateful to God for this new phase,” Marcos wrote on Instagram. “Thanks to Jason House for the trust and PFL for the work that makes these moments
possible. The signing is just the beginning. My language has always been the same: discipline, pressure and violence. The rest is just words. See you all soon.”
Marcos, 33, was removed from the UFC roster following a submission win over Miles Johns at UFC Vegas 111, though “Soncora” remains in the dark about the promotion’s decision to part ways.
“Since my last fight in November, I did exactly what was asked of me,” Marcos said. “I finished my opponent, and since December, I have stayed ready to compete again. I spent months training, going through fight camps, and waiting for an opportunity. A negotiation never materialized; a contract renewal never came. I simply kept waiting because I trusted that the moment would eventually arrive. In the end, the decision was made not to continue with me — and to this day, I still lack a clear explanation as to why.”
“I cannot control those decisions, but I can control how I respond to them,” Marcos added. “I am grateful to every person who has supported me along this journey — especially those who have stood by me through both the victories and the difficult times. My mindset remains unchanged. I continue to train, I continue to grow, and I remain ready to compete. To everyone who follows me and believes in me: this does not end here. I am hungrier than ever, and I am prepared to prove it — anywhere, and against anyone.”
A date and opponent for his PFL debut have yet to be determined.
