When Kara Lawson got to Duke, it was during Covid and her team elected to bag the season after four games.
So it took her a little longer to get things off the ground than it might have otherwise.
Things picked up quickly though and last season, Lawson led Duke to a 29-8 season that ended in the Elite Eight at the hands of South Carolina. But Duke pushed them too before losing 54-50.
Recently she was named the coach of the U.S. Women’s Olympic basketball team, which is a significant honor.
And now, not
surprisingly, young players are catching on. Latest example: 5-star Bella Flemings has committed.
At 6-0, Flemings is a talented scorer and will help Duke light up the scoreboard.
She joins 6-4-star Sanai Green and 6-4 Taylor Solfikanich as members from the class of 2026. Clearly, the early bumps are over. Lawson is now building a powerful program.
