
Without star outside hitter Jalyn Gibson, who sustained a knee injury against Penn State this past weekend and will miss the remainder of the 2025 season, TCU women’s volleyball returned to Fort Worth for a pair of nonconference home matches against No. 19 UCLA. The No. 24 ranked Horned Frogs showed dominance over both matches, with players like Lauren Murphy and Evan Hendrix stepping up on the outside to lead TCU over the Bruins 3-0 on Saturday and 3-1 on Sunday. nonconference play against Texas A&M on Wednesday in a Big 12-SEC tilt before hosting the Flight in the Fort tournament, where TCU will take on Wyoming, Rhode Island and Missouri over a two-day period beginning Thursday and ending Friday.
TCU swept the Bruins on Saturday evening, taking three consecutive sets by a score of 25-21, 25-22, 25-23. In a defensive battle, TCU held UCLA to an .096 hitting percentage while posting 14 total blocks as a team. Ella Foti (16) and Rosemary Archer (10) combined for 26 assists to pace the Horned Frog offense, which was led by Evan Hendrix with 12 kills and Becca Kelley with eight kills. Lauren Murphy added five kills on a .286 hitting clip for the Horned Frogs, who received a team-high 15 digs and six assists from sophomore libero Alice Volpe. Sarah Sylvester and Alexis Roberson plugged up the middle and anchored the front-line defense, with Sylvester notching seven total blocks while Roberson chipped in six total blocks.
TCU returned to the court on Sunday and scored a four-set win over the Bruins. The Horned Frogs overcame a third-set defeat and responded with a 25-21, 25-19, 21-25, 25-14 victory. TCU fared much better offensively in the rematch, hitting .278 behind a stellar performance from Lauren Murphy, who led the way with 16 kills on a .500 hitting percentage. Evan Hendrix posted a double-double with 13 kills and 15 digs, while Becca Kelley added 13 kills. Sarah Sylvester and Alexis Roberson combined for 13 kills from the middle, with Roberson hitting .686 on her attempts. Ella Foti (29 assists and 11 digs) and Rosemary Archer (24 assists) dished out nearly all of the team’s 59 assists during the match, which Alice Volpe anchored defensively with a team-high 22 digs.
