Before all the focus was on much bigger, sadder news, a major story coming out of All Out was how banged up the AEW roster was coming out of it. President and head of creative Tony Khan said as much while explaining why not many stars joined him for the post-show.
We knew about Steven Borden, who thankfully seems to be recovering and was said to be backstage at Dynamite last night (Oct. 14). On the show, we learned that Christian Cage is out dealing with gnarly-sounding injuries from the Tag title
ladder match in Chicagoland last month. And on the first episode of Collision after All Out, Tony Schiavone informed us Jay White had been injured during the pre-show and would miss a couple months.
Add another name to that list. In a video posted just after midnight — and after three hours of AEW on TBS — Khan passed along that a Women’s Tag Team champion is out. That changes the card for this weekend’s PPV:
“I was hoping The Brawling Birds would be able to defend the Tag Team championship [at WrestleDream this Saturday], but Jamie Hayter from that Chicago Street Fight [at All Out] is still out injured. Hopefully Jamie Hayter will be back in a couple of weeks.”
A match had been announced pitting Hayter and Birds partner Alex Windsor up against Wrathlander (Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander), but that’s now off the card. In it’s place, we get a pre-show women’s tag bout between Sisters of Sin Julia Hart and Skye Blue and previous champs Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne and Lena Kross).
In his video, Khan also acknowledged that Sept. 30’s Ben “PAC” Satterley tribute shows did limit the build for Oct. 17’s WrestleDream, but he’s fine with that as it was the right thing to do for Satterley.
Best wishes to Hayter, and everyone on AEW’s injury list!
