So, it’s been a little while since Juventus got big wins in Serie A and the Champions League within the span of just a few days. But that was the case this past week, with Juve beating Benfica to secure
a place in the UCL play-off round and then turning right around four days later and beating old boss Antonio Conte and Napoli.
All on the same field.
All adding up to the continued quality work that Luciano Spalletti is doing.
While Sunday’s win over Napoli didn’t change Juve’s position in the Serie A standings — they’re still in fifth place just as they were when they took the field this past weekend — the Bianconeri are now just one point off Conte’s squad in third place. It’s a situation that looks good … but also makes you regret what happen the weekend prior when Juve lost to Cagliari and could have been all alone in third place if they hadn’t dropped points to a relegation battler. (That, you know, just so happened to pick up a second straight win on Saturday against Fiorentina, for what it’s worth.)
So, yeah. A pretty good week for Spalletti and Juventus. Now it’s over to Monaco to finish up the Champions League league phase and try to get a good seed (or more?) for the play-off round draw.
