The Portland Fire’s tiny playoff hopes are in the balance this evening as they travel to Dallas to take on the Wings. The Fire (15-22) sit in 9th place, just one spot out of the final playoff slot. Tonight’s opponent is the very team above them in standings. The problem is that the Wings (22-16) are 6.5 games clear of the Fire with only 7 games left for Portland. A win for the Fire staves off elimination, but the Wings just need any win or any Fire loss the rest of the way to clinch that final spot.
Today’s game is scheduled for a 5:00PM Pacific tip, and is available on Rose City SportsNet and also on NBA TV. The Fire are reasonably healthy outside of their already known long-term injuries. The Wings will be without rookie sensation Azzi Fudd and Aziaha James.
