Bayern Munich is continuing to build toward the start of the competitive season, and head coach Vincent Kompany was encouraged by what he saw in the club’s 2-1 preseason victory over Aston Villa.
Despite acknowledging there is still work to do before the campaign begins, Kompany believes his team is making steady progress against quality opposition.
“We’re trying to find our form as quickly as possible, but at this stage of preseason against a strong Villa side, I was really pleased with our performance,”
Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
It is a measured assessment that reflects where Bayern Munich currently stands. Preseason results are always secondary to fitness, rhythm, and tactical development, but defeating a Premier League opponent while delivering a strong overall performance is another positive step forward.
With the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup and Bundesliga season fast approaching, Bayern Munich appears to be trending in the right direction. The squad is continuing to regain match sharpness, new signings are settling in, and more players are returning to full fitness after joining later in preseason.
Kompany is not suggesting Bayern Munich has reached its peak just yet, but his comments make it clear that the team is progressing as expected. If the performances continue to improve at this pace, Bayern Munich should enter the new season with plenty of confidence.
