What is the story about?
Every
day’s an endless stream Of Dots and magazines
- I will freely admit that I feel like an imposter when I try to write about the accomplishments of the US rowing teams. While I understand the basics of the sport, I do not know how the competitions are structured or what constitutes a good performance. But none of that stops me from taking great pride in the UW team when they compete at the highest possible levels in the world. This weekend, the men’s team joined me on this side of the Atlantic to compete at the Henley Royal Regatta. The Husky Men finished second to a crew from Cambridge in the Finals of the Temple Challenge Cup (this is the part where I’m relaying information I do not understand). The Women performed equally well and finished as runners-up to Brown in the Island Challenge Cup.
- Christian Caple released a new episode of his Say Who, Say Pod podcast. Caple and Danny O’Neil talk about the impact of the offensive line recruiting victories from last week and the ratings of UW players on the new NCAA Football video game.
- Last week, Caple wrote an article comparing last year’s recruiting class to the one that is getting close to completion this year. Chris Fetters of Dawgman followed that thread and looked at some of the reasons this year’s class is not as high rated. Fetters notes that ratings fluctuations during the cycle and the presence of two specialists both deflate the overall score of this year’s class, but the teams that UW has beaten out to get some of its top targets prove that the class is still strong.
- Speaking of the ‘27 recruiting class, one of the players who could positively impact that overall rating set a commitment date. CB Censere Gaylord will make his decision on July 11. UW has Crystal Balls in its favor for the blue-chipper, who is also considering Georgia and Georgia Tech.
