Everton got off to a fast start scoring in just the second minute against Nottingham Forest thanks to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s whipped cross into the box, and then scored once again on the stroke of halftime
before capping the three points with a third goal midway through the second half. The victory over former manager Sean Dyche sees the Blues end the evening in fifth place in the Premier League Table.
Speaking after the game to BBC Match of the Day, the Blues Man of the Match Dewsbury-Hall was understandably pleased with how things had gone.
“We are, apart from the blip against Newcastle we are clicking and playing some great stuff. We were the dominant team, they didn’t cause us many problems.
“Bar 10 minutes in the first half we were dominant, we limited them to scraps. It has been a fantastic week.”
After a couple of games where he struggled, the former Leicester City and Chelsea midfielder has sparkled, and not even playing in a more recessed role with the absence of Idrissa Gueye has slowed his scoring rate.
“I’m feeling the best I have ever felt, I am at a club which gives me so much confidence. Fingers crossed I can keep helping the team.
“I came here for a reason, I saw something that looked pretty special. Now I’m starting to feel really settled, the best I have ever felt. Long may that continue.
“The way the fans have taken to me is so humbling, and the manager and players, they say we know how good you are, go and express yourself. Now it’s about keeping doing the right things and keeping a level head.”
With Everton breaking into the European spots, is continental football a possibility for the Toffees next season?
“This is a European club, look at the stadium, it deserves to be in Europe. That would be the dream – it is early days but we are making good progress.
“Of course Europe is a realistic ambition. The size of the club, the ownership, the stadium, it all shouts European football. A lot can happen, but we are making positive steps.”
His teammate Thierno Barry finally broke his goalscoring duck with a well-taken goal set up by a quick break from Iliman Ndiaye.
“After the goal, that is one of the loudest I have heard the (Hill Dickinson) stadium. Thierno has worked his nuts off, hopefully that is the catalyst for him to push on.”
