It was reported on Monday that the Dallas Cowboys have not had any contract extension conversations with wide receiver George Pickens. Given that we are only in the very early days of February, there is no need to freak out.
But context is necessary all the way around and in the Cowboys’ case it is required to say that contract extensions and getting them done in efficient and non-dramatic ways is not exactly their specialty. A host of players have had to fight tooth and nail to get their extensions in recent
years, and they have all either come in the eleventh hour or in one extreme case (you know the one) led to a player being traded away.
Nobody knows what is going to happen with George Pickens. For all we do know an extension could be announced any moment now. This is simply the way these things go.
But does the lack of movement, specifically that it reached a point that it was reported that there isn’t any, concern you?
