In Braves Country, we’ll go round and round about who the sixth starting pitcher should be. We have thoughts about who needs to be signed to primarily sit on the bench. We have pitchforks for our favorite pitching prospects and will use them if they aren’t the next guy to be promoted. We care deeply about #1-26 on the roster plus the remaining 14 and more. So I totally get it when I see it in other sports.
But the “Shedeur Sanders for QB2” inferno might be the dumbest argument about backups in a long
time. If I were Cleveland Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski, I’d tell them “hey, we’re 1-4 and haven’t won anything since Earnest Byner. Maybe let me worry about the Steelers this week.”
So with all that said, who needs to sit on the Braves bench this season? Is there a certain player that absolutely must be signed? Is there a player that needs to sit on the bench a little more *gestures toward Sean Murphy and ducks* for another? How much playing time should Eli White see or do they need another center fielder?
I don’t know that I have a burning take necessarily. But if you all have a player that you really want, you could talk me into a deep dive for later this week. Long offseason.
