David Benavidez put on a show earlier tonight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, dominating Anthony Yarde for six rounds before eventually knocking him out in the seventh in the main event of The Ring IV: “Night
of Champions.”
Yarde never got much going throughout the fight, though he wasn’t backing down an inch as “The Mexican Monster” was walking him down and tagging him with several big shots. Yarde did land a couple of good strikes of his own, but they were few and far in between.
In round seven, Benavidez put his foot on the gas an unleashed a barrage of bombs on Yarde who was trapped against the corner. Yarde eventually went down but was able to answer the count. It didn’t matter, though, because Benavidez pounced and delivered one big shot after another that forced the referee to step in and put an end to the punishment.
Check out some of the highlights:
With the win, Benavidez improves to 31-0 and retains his WBC and WBA Light Heavyweight titles. After his latest victory, “The Mexican Monster” announced he will be moving up to Cruiserweight to challenge Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez for his titles on May 2, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ramirez has a record of 48-1 with 30 knockouts, with his lone defeat coming at the hands of Dmitry Bivol, coming up short via unanimous decision in an attempt to win the WBA Super Light Heavyweight title back in May 2022.
