The Carolina Panthers are 2-2, but look to be on their way to their first winning season since 2017.
Carolina’s Got Hands (Paws?)
Last year the Carolina Panthers offense didn’t run many plays (22nd most) and when they did, they were pretty bad at it (27th in yards per play).
This year? This year the Panthers offense isn’t messing around.
Carolina is…
3rd in plays per game
3rd in pass attempts per game
5th in yards per play
Bryce Young is…
1st in yards per game
3rd in completed air yards per attempt
7th in intended air yards per attempt
Tet McMillian is not having any hint of a sophomore slump, but the Panthers receiving core is not a one man show, as Jalen Coker 17th in yards per game.
Carolina is probably going to win the NFC South, and unlike last year, not just because someone has to.
Hasn’t he suffered enough?
Poor guy. Speaking of ambulances…
Call the ambulance, but not for me
When the schedule came out, this looked like a “trap” game. The Eagles were returning from London, and they face the Cowboys in two weeks. Meanwhile the Panthers coming off their bye in a ridiculously unfair scheduling disadvantage for the Eagles.
Now if anything, the Eagles are the trap team. Carolina has an extremely winnable division game next week at home against the Bucs. Quite the sudden role reversal.
College Football Watch List
I have in the past tried to stay away from the obvious top 10 type of players, because they were out of reach of the Eagles. Not this year. As it stands now the Eagles are picking 10th, and they’re about to be out their starting QB for a couple of games.
12:00 – Ohio State at Indiana
I doubt the Eagles go back to back WR in the 1st round. Still, this game has WR1 in a guy you may have heard of in Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith, and possibly WR2 in Indiana’s Charlie Becker. If the Eagles slide continues Smith could be in play. Becker is the physical and deep threat the Eagles lack.
3:30 – Missouri at Ole Miss
Ole Miss DT Will Echoles is listed at 6’3” 315 and is fast off the snap. He’s an impressive physical talent, Ole Miss has lined him up on occasion as a stand up edge rusher. But he’s inconsistent. He had a good game against LSU but then Ole Miss as a whole predictably had a let down against Florida and got smoked. He later said it was because of “a lack of violence” which is an answer both I want to hear from a DT because that’s a good mindset to have, and not want to hear because it meant he did not wake up and choose violence.
7:30 – Notre Dame at BYU
Notre Dame CB Leonard Moore is probably the best defensive prospect in the draft. CB is not a priority position of need but like Jeremiah Smith some players are just too good to pass up. He’s got everything you want in a corner prospect, size, speed for a CB who is 6’2”, versatility, excels in man coverage, and production (5 INTs last year). He might get the dreaded “safest pick in the draft” tag. Uh oh.
