The Las Vegas Raiders’ first splash in outside free agency was a huge one and a needed one.
According to ESPN, the Raiders have signed Baltimore Ravens center Tyler Linderbaum. He was one of the most sought after free agents available regardless of position.
The Raiders paid a massive cost to land Linderbaum, who turns 26 next month. He is getting a three-year, $81 million deal with $60 million in guaranteed money. He is making nine million more than any other center in the NFL and three more million than any guard. So, yes, it’s quite a commitment from Las Vegas.
But they had a major need on the offensive line and he is a great fit for new coach Klint Kubiak’s system.
Linderbaum, who as allowed just five sacks in four NFL seasons, will be a huge help for the Raiders for expected No. 1 overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza and second-year running back Ashton Jeanty.
Las Vegas’ offensive line needed a big overhaul and it started in a big way with the Linderbaum addition.
