What is the story about?
AEW wrapped up their residency at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena last night (Sept. 11) with a taping of Collision. The episode will air and stream on Saturday night, but spoilers are available now — courtesy of PWInsider.
The Sept. 13 show will set the stage for a big week, as AEW has a three-hour September to Remember special on Wednesday before an hour-long TNT special and the PPV on Saturday the 20th.
Here’s what we’re hearing went down in the former ECW Arena:
- MJF runs down Philly and Mark Briscoe ahead of their All Out match next Saturday in Toronto. Briscoe appeared on the big screen to cut a promo revealing that they’ll have a Tables and Thumbtacks no disqualifications match on PPV. Mark tried to attack Max in the arena, but MJF escaped.
- Konosuke Takeshita def. Anthony Bowens to advance to All Out’s Unified title 3-way
- Triangle of Madness (Thekla, Julia Hart, and Skye Blue), Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne def. Jamie Hayter, Tay Melo, Anna Jay, Kris Statlander & Harley Cameron in a $500K 5-on-5. Timeless Toni Storm was on commentary and joined a mass of women at some point in or after the match.
- Big Bill def. Max Caster
- Backstage, Jerry Lynn was talking to Bowens when Caster strolled by and a brawl broke out between the former teammates. They fought to the ring, and when they were finally separated Lynn cut a promo asking what happened to their AEW Tag title-winning team. Swirl (Blake Christian and Lee Johnson) came out to mock the ROH Hall of Famer for wasting him time on the former Acclaimed when he could be working with them. Swirl jumped Lynn, Caster went to help but also got beat down, leading to Bowens making the save after a moment of internal conflict. Jerry raised Max & Anthony’s arms together after they cleared the ring, but fka Acclaimed weren’t sure of their reunion and left separately.
- FTR dr. Tommy Billington & Adam Priest
- Kazuchika Okada def. Michael Oku to advance to All Out’s Unified title 3-way
- Death Riders (Jon Moxley & Daniel Garcia) def. The Paragon (Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong)
- In a segment that presumably wasn’t part of the main broadcast, Tony Khan welcomed Doug Gilbert and Tommy Rich as part of a tribute to Doug’s late brother “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert (more on this in a bit).
