There is a decent chance that if you are reading this article, you are still in disbelief over what happened Saturday night. UNC climbed out of a pretty large hole to beat Duke off a buzzer beater from Seth Trimble, and the reaction across the internet was bonkers. It would take forever to highlight all of the reactions, but let’s highlight some of the best ones.
First, let’s start with a post from former Tar Heel Garrison Brooks, who was able to get the perfect view of Trimble’s shot from behind
the bench:
We also got a video of Theo Pinson having the time of his life after Trimble drilled the game-winner:
Following the game-winning shot, CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein had some big words regarding UNC pulling off such an impressive win:
Another CBS guy, Matt Norlander, chimed in pointing out the significance of the Trimble’s buzzer beater:
When the party moved to Franklin Street, ESPN’s Sportscenter account was on the scene, and they shared a video of Caleb Wilson walking through the sea of fans with his bedazzled belt that he brings out for every big win:
It goes without saying, though, that not everyone was happy about Saturday night’s game. Here is a video of a Duke fan caught on camera having to suffer through Trimble’s Austin Rivers-like moment:
There was also a large number of Duke fans complaining about officiating, the court storming, and fans throwing bottles at players after the game as well. Focusing on the court storming and bottle throwing, we all can agree that nobody should be throwing anything at anybody, but Blue Devils’ fans also have very bad memories. That was pointed out by Carolina fans with a quickness:
Then there’s this from Joe Ovies:
Look, both fanbases need to learn how to act during these exciting, dramatic moments. But the thing is that we shouldn’t let any of that distract from the truths that come out of these games. Latif Love stated a truth that I don’t think Blue Devils fans are ready to accept:
Ultimately, the 2025-26 edition of UNC vs. Duke lived up to the hype in the Dean Dome. Things were really dark for the Tar Heels for most of the game, but the way they climbed back and won in the final five minutes is something that will be remembered forever. Who knows what will happen in Cameron Indoor, but for now, Tar Heels fans get to enjoy driving all the Blue Devils fans they know crazy for the next month.
On that note, I would like to leave you all with perhaps the funniest post of the night:
Oh, wait, just kidding. I have one more for you:
Alright, I’m serious this time. One more and then I’m done.
Happy Victory Monday, and Go Heels!
