BYU starting forward Kennard Davis announced that he is entering the transfer portal. He is the fourth BYU player to enter the portal.
The 6-foot-6 wing started all 32 games he played for BYU, averaging 8.5 points on 39.5% shooting from the field and 32% from three. Davis transferred to BYU after two season at Southern Illinois. BYU’s staff hoped he would turn into a Three-and-D player on the wing next to AJ Dybantsa and Richie Saunders, but Davis’ shooting was never consistent enough to have the impact
BYU had hoped for BYU. Davis had his moments and showed flashes where he was a difference maker on the offensive end. Some of his highlights included a late season surge that included 15+ point performances in wins over Texas Tech and Iowa State.
Ultimately, Davis wasn’t consistent enough and shot just 27% from three in Big 12 play. With Davis gone, BYU must replace all three starting wings from this season’s team. 5-Star Bruce Branch and 4-Star Dean Rueckert join the team, and BYU will add other players from the transfer portal.
