Jalen Hurts has a new position coach in 2026 with the Philadelphia Eagles reassigning Parks Frazier
from “pass game coordinator” to their quarterbacks coach. But Hurts apparently still values the insight from Frazier’s predecessor: Scot Loeffler. The fifth slide of Hurts’ latest Instagram post shows himself at a workout with his 2025 QB coach:
It’s not shocking to see Hurts working with Loeffler in the sense that the former had the following to say about the latter in mid-December:
“I don’t know that that’s necessarily because of Scot that we’ve been under center. I think overall coaching points and the value he’s brung, the perspective he’s brought … and … the knowledge of the game. A lot of wisdom in the game. He’s coached the best of them. He’s been around it, he’s called games before. So, his perspective have been very valuable for me. And his process and his structured way of thinking has been very influential. So, hopefully we can keep him around.”
The Eagles did not, in fact, keep Loeffler around in an official coaching capacity. If they did, he wouldn’t be permitted to be doing this kind of hands-on training with Hurts at this point in the offseason.
Perhaps it’s not worth reading too much into this Loeffler appearance but, I don’t know, I don’t recall many players working out with coaches not too long after they were not retained by their team? I wonder to what extent that Hurts is miffed, if at all, that Loeffler wasn’t kept? A layer to think about with the context of the recent reporting about Hurts and his standing on the team.
