Rutgers baseball announced its 2026 schedule earlier this week, with the Scarlet Knights being set for 14 weekend series, including 10 Big Ten series. As usual, Rutgers will start the season in the South,
as February is simply too cold for baseball to be played in the Northeast.
The Scarlet Knights will open the season in South Carolina with a four-game series against the College of Charleston, with the first game scheduled for Friday, February 13th at 4:00 PM. Saturday will contain a doubleheader, with the series concluding on Sunday. Rutgers will then face Virginia Tech in Blacksburg in their second week of the season (Feb 20-22), with the two former Big East rivals having not played a series since 2004.
The following week (Feb 27-Mar 1), the Knights will visit Greenville, North Carolina, for the Keith LeClair Classic, which is hosted annually by East Carolina. Rutgers will take on hosts ECU on Friday, Western Carolina on Saturday, and Troy on Sunday.
Rutgers will make its home debut on Tuesday, March 3rd, when the Knights host Georgetown. The final nonconference series will take place from March 6th-8th, when Rutgers hosts Bryant for a three-game set at Bainton Field. The Bulldogs were 36-19-1 a season ago and won the America East regular season title.
From there on out, Big Ten play will commence, beginning with a three-game home series against Michigan State from March 13-15th. Some of the other highlights include the first trip to Illinois since 2018, as well as hosting UCLA while traveling out west to USC.
The full Big Ten schedule includes: Michigan State (3/13-15), at Illinois (3/20-22), Michigan (3/27-29), at Indiana (4/3-5), UCLA (4/10-12), at Penn State (4/17-19), Ohio State (4/24-26), at USC (5/1-3), Maryland (5/8-10), at Northwestern (5/14-16).
The regular season schedule also includes weekday nonconference games against local opponents between the weekend Big Ten series. To view the full schedule, please visit the Rutgers Athletics website’s schedule page.
