Barcelona confirmed on Monday that manager Hansi Flick has extended his contract with the club until 2028.
The German coach has put pen to paper on a new deal after another successful season that has seen Barcelona win La Liga and Spanish Super Cup titles.
Flick has now won five titles in two years with Barcelona and will continue for at least another two years in the hotseat.
Flick has regularly spoken about how happy he is at Barcelona, saying the club
has become like a family to him. He also spoke about his decision to extend after seeing his team successfully retain their title.
“I’m very happy, this gives me the confidence to keep working for another year or two,” he told reporters.
“I think a lot of coaches would be very happy if they signed a three, four-year contract. But in the case of Barça it is good to limit it.
“We will continue until 2028 and if everything goes well, we will make the decision to continue for another year.”
Flick will take charge of Barca for a final time this season on Sunday against Valencia and will then enjoy a well-deserved break after another great campaign.
