The No. 23 Wisconsin Badgers have their first big test of the season on Friday when they travel to take on the No. 9 BYU Cougars in a battle between ranked teams.
Wisconsin has cruised through the early part of its non-conference schedule, beating teams by an average of over 28 points, as it’s scored 93.7 points per game and allowed just 65 points a contest so far.
The guard duo of John Blackwell and Nick Boyd has led the way, as both are right up near that 20-point-per-game mark. But, Wisconsin has firepower
all over its starting lineup, and will look to put that to the test against BYU.
For the Cougars, the biggest storyline has been freshman A.J. Dybantsa, and deservedly so. Dybansta is averaging 20 points per game on incredible efficiency, and nearly led BYU back from a 20-point deficit against the UNC Tar Heels last week.
But, the Cougars are well-rounded, as last year’s leading scorer, wing Richie Saunders, is back and averaging 19.5 points per game. There’s also point guard Rob Wright III, who transferred in from Baylor and is averaging 17.8 points and 4.3 assists per game.
Overall, BYU is once again a top-10 offense, according to KenPom, and will look to assert that against Wisconsin on Friday.
