We’ve got massive edge rusher Garmon Randolph up next in our 90-in-90 series!
The Basics
Height: 6’8
Weight: 260 pounds
College: Baylor
Experience: 1
Randolph played for Jefferson High School (GA) where he played as both a tight end and defensive end for head coach Gene Catchcart. His senior season, Randolph recorded just one sack to go with a fumble recovery and one interception he returned for a touchdown. On offense, he had 14 receptions for 205 yards and five touchdowns. That year, he eanred Honorable Mention
All-State honors.
As the No. 7 ranked tight end prospect in the nation by ESPN, Randolph chose to attend Baylor over programs such as LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Florida State.
Randolph would go on to redshirt during his first season for the Bears after seeing playing time in two games. In 2020, he saw time in five games, recording two tackles and one sack.
The lengthy defender earned the first four starts of his career in 2021 while playing in 11 games total. He played Baylor’s JACK position, a hybrid role for a player that mainly rushes after the quarterback while also being capable of setting the edge in the run game and occasionally dropping back in zone coverage.
In 2022, Randolph had his best season yet, recording 43 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks while earning 11 starts in 13 contests. Unfortunately, Randolph lost his starting job to begin the year before earning it back in five of the final six games of the year. He ended the 2023 campaign with 23 tackles, a fumble recovery, and one pass deflection.
Randolph capped his collegiate career by starting seven of 11 games during the 2024 season. He finished the year with 29 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and his first two career interceptions.
During the pre-draft process, Randolph was invited to participate in that year’s Shrine Bowl where he reportedly shined during 1-on-1 pass rush drills.
After going undrafted in 2025, Randolph signed as a UDFA with the Chargers.
During his rookie season, Randolph recorded two tackles and one sack during the team’s preseason schedule.
The Good
Randolph has elite size and length which is always a great place to start when it comes to undrafted pass rushers.
During his lone preseason with the Chargers, he recorded a pair of tackles and a sack.
The Bad
Randolph’s production in college was a bit of a roller coaster. In his first three seasons (2019-2021), he had jus three total sacks. Then in 2022, he recorded a career-high 4.5. In 2023, that number evaporated to zero before he notched 3.5 in his final year of eligibility. That 2023 season also included zero tackles for loss, as well, which is very concerning when he played in 11 games (five starts).
2026 Outlook
Randolph still possesses elite physical gifts that cannot be coached or trained so he will continue to get a little bit more of a look to stick with the team. Luckily, the Chargers only brought in one edge rusher this offseason in Mesidor who is essentially replacing Odafe Oweh. That means the group as a whole remains the just about the same and that’s a positive sign for Randolph’s chances to once again be a stash to the practice squad.
If 2025 fourth-round pick Kyle Kennard cannot take any semblance of a step forward in his progression, Randolph could make a legit push to level himself on the depth chart.
