Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl saw the danger that FC Köln brought to the game early in Wednesday’s DFB-Pokal clash between the clubs.
The Bavarians would ultimately bring home a 4-1 victory
and Eberl was impressed at how it all went down.
“Köln played very actively and bravely, going for second balls and winning headers. The first half was very complicated for us; it wasn’t an easy game, and then we found ourselves 1-0 down. We came back, turned the game around before halftime, and took a 2-1 lead. In the second half, it was a very manly and solid away performance, which we saw out very well. You could see what kind of mentality this team has and what a passion they have for playing football. We’re on a very good run at the moment,” said Eberl (as captured by FCBayern.com).
Bayern Munich’s resolve will be tested once again this weekend when Bayer Leverkusen visits the Allianz Arena. Can Bayern Munich keep its torrid run of play going?
Bayern Munich traveled to Cologne for a midweek DFB-Pokal tilt with FC Köln.
Heading into the match, the Bavarians were riding high, but the squad knew that FC Köln would not be an easy out in front of its home crowd. Ultimately, Bayern Munich pulled out a 4-1 victory doing exactly what they have done to every other opponent it has had of late — wear them down and pounce.
