With Johnny Fisher back in action this weekend at the Copper Box, taking on Michael Pirotton in what he hopes will be a step towards the big time, the current holder of the British heavyweight title Richard Riakporhe tells Sky Sports that he’d be more than willing to give Fisher a crack at his belt if he wins this weekend.
“Why not give them the opportunity? Very respectful, likeable, and he’s a big puncher himself as well and a strong guy, like an ox. So it would be good for the fans to see…I’m seen
as a dangerous guy, top 10 in the world, [but] who knows? I’m actually a fan of Johnny Fisher as well and the Bosh family. I’m going to be watching and cheering him on at the weekend.”
Riakporhe is most recently coming off a win over Jeamie TKV in April to take the British belt and while he’s keen on moving on to a world championship fight, he wouldn’t mind making a fun domestic level fight with Fisher because he believes there would be good money in it, along with being the kind of fight local fans would gravitate towards.
Ultimately, it’s the top of the division where Riakporhe envisions himself, but he’s certainly not against making a buck along the way.
