The Seattle Seahawks welcomed the Los Angeles Rams to Lumen Field on Thursday night, a clash of NFC West rivals in a battle for the division. That battle couldn’t be decided tonight, but the outcome of tonight’s game will impact the overall NFC playoff picture and the chances each of these teams has to grab that top spot.
The Rams were the only NFC team to have clinched a postseason bid heading into Thursday Night Football in Seattle, and the Seahawks had the chance to become the second with a win
against Los Angeles. They overcame a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter to roar back and do exactly that, sealing the deal with a touchdown and two-point conversion in overtime.
It may have been the most entertaining game of the season, and it launched the Seahawks right to the top of the NFC West standings and the NFC playoff picture. The Rams drop down to the first Wild Card seed and to second place in the division.
The Seahawks will head across the country next week to take on the Panthers in Charlotte, and they’ll close out the season on the road against the 49ers — third in the NFC West and hot on the heels of both the Steelers and the Rams with a 10-4 record. This has been a hotly contested divisional race and that could continue right up through the final minute of Week 18.
