Bayern Munich’s Magnus Dalpiaz is a very curious type of player. A strong, fast and physically dominant right back who stands at 1.85 meters, his strengths are certainly more on the physical side of the game than the technical one. But while his technique slightly underwhelms in various aspects of his game, he remarkably excels at shooting. The Austrian can hit a ball so sweetly and with so much power on a very regular basis while he also possesses a good instinct for making late runs into the box
to get on the end of chances. This led to a 2024/25 U-19 season in which he competed with all the forwards to be the top scorer and netted 4 goals in one game against Greuther Fürth’s U-19s- while performing regular right back duties, by the way.
This package of skills has allowed Dalpiaz to move up the ranks at Bayern, culminating in regular appearances for the U-19s. In January of 2026, though, a bizarre loan move with an option to buy to Italian giants AC Milan followed. There, he played 10 times, usually appearing off the bench, for Milan’s U-23s Milan Futuro in Serie D.
After a few games in Italy’s fourth division, Dalpiaz returns to Munich off the back of Milan refusing the active the option to buy. Which is why he has needed a new landing spot, one found in TSV Hartberg. The Austrian Bundesliga side has announced the transfer via their official website:
TSV 1860 Munich has strengthened its squad for the 2026/27 season with the signing of Austrian youth international Magnus Dalpiaz. The 19-year-old full-back will be on loan from FC Bayern Munich II for one season. Dalpiaz is a current Austrian U19 national player and comes from a sports-loving family: His father was an Austrian national ice hockey goalkeeper.
Dalpiaz and various Hartberg personnel voice their satisfaction at the deal:
Dalpiaz: “I’m incredibly excited for the upcoming season at TSV Hartberg. The talks with the management convinced me, and I can hardly wait to play in the Bundesliga. I will give my all to develop both athletically and personally. TSV, with its fans and fantastic atmosphere, is the perfect place for me to take the next step in my professional football career. I’m very grateful for the trust placed in me and I’m eager for the season to start.”
Chairman and Managing Director Erich Korherr: With Magnus, we are gaining a young, hungry player who possesses great potential and wants to develop further at the highest level. We are very much looking forward to our time together and would like to take this opportunity to thank FC Bayern Munich for the excellent cooperation. As an Austrian youth international, Magnus fits perfectly with our strategic approach of focusing on promising young talents and giving them the opportunity to take the next step in their development.”
Hartberg’s Head coach and technical director Markus Schopp: “I am very pleased that Magnus has chosen TSV Hartberg. With him, we gain a versatile player. He was able to gain international experience at a young age with FC Bayern Munich and AC Milan and is an Austrian youth international who now wants to take the next step in his career with us.”
BFW Analysis
The cooperation Korherr mentioned is not just from this one deal. Bayern have very good relations with Hartberg and have done business on numerous previous occasions, selling talented goalkeeper Tom Ritzy Hülsmann to the club as well as loaning left back Maximilian Hennig to them in 2025. The duo helped their new club to a 6th place finish in the Austrian Bundesliga and already Hülsmann is being linked with a transfer away for a club record transfer fee.
The Dalpiaz deal, and the speed with which it was completed, hints at the fact that the cooperation between the two clubs is far from over.
