As the Cubs make a qualifying offer to Kyle Tucker that he will almost certainly decline, he takes home some hardware:
Even while missing time with some injuries, Tucker batted .266/.377/.464 with 22 home runs and 25 stolen bases in 136 games for the Cubs. It was a calculated risk for Jed Hoyer to trade for Tucker before the 2025 season, knowing that he might very well spend only one season in blue pinstripes.
Congratulations to Tucker on his Silver Slugger Award, his second (also in 2023 with the Astros).
He is the first Cub to win a Silver Slugger since Javier Báez in 2018. The only other Cubs to win a Silver Slugger in the last 15 years are Jake Arrieta and Anthony Rizzo, who both won the award in the World Series year of 2016.
Congratulations as well to the other National League Silver Slugger winners. American League Silver Slugger winners will be announced tomorrow.
