Cleveland Browns edge rusher Jared Verse isn’t backing down from his comments about Cam Heyward and the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of Sunday’s AFC North matchup.
The Cleveland Browns linebacker recently found himself at the center of a war of words with Heyward after describing the Steelers as “dirty.” Heyward responded by making it clear that Verse’s comments had not gone unnoticed.
“Those are words that were said and they will be addressed,” Heyward said, according to Around The NFL.
Verse, however,
isn’t concerned about Heyward or the challenge Pittsburgh presents.
“I’m not worried about Cam. I’m not worried about their O-line. I’m not worried about nobody they got on their team,” Verse said.
The young pass rusher made it clear that his focus remains on competing and making a statement on the field.
“We out there to go dominate,” Verse said. “About to make Pittsburgh ours on Sunday.”
The comments add another layer of intensity to a rivalry that already has plenty of history. Cleveland defeated Pittsburgh, 27-24, in their first meeting, giving the Browns an opportunity to complete the season sweep with another victory Sunday. Both teams enter the rematch at 5-2, with sole possession of first place in the AFC North on the line.
