Logan Wilson, one of the few remaining players from that defense that went to the Super Bowl, has just been traded to the Dallas Cowboys.
According to Ian Rapoport, the Cincinnati Bengals will be getting a seventh round pick in return.
This is the first big trade to happen for a team looking to fix its defense somehow. Wilson wanted out after getting benched, and the Bengals are dealing with major locker room
issues.
Wilson, still only 29, has two years remaining on a four-year, $36 million extension he signed two years ago.
He had four straight seasons of 100 tackles or more until losing his starting job this year.
The hope is that he can bring a strong veteran presence to a Dallas defense that has immense struggles of its own.
Bengals fans will always remember Wilson fondly. He was arguably on his way to a Super Bowl MVP trophy before a questionable holding call near the goal line against the Los Angeles Rams.
Now, Cincinnati must look ahead and figure out how to get players to buy into the system again, because clearly, frustration has reached a boiling point for Chase Brown, Ja’Marr Chase, and others on the offensive side of the ball.
