WVU women’s soccer stayed unbeaten in Big 12 play, battling Kansas to a 2–2 draw Thursday night at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence.
All four goals came in the first half. WVU struck first in the 13th minute when Taylor White’s cross was mishandled by a Kansas defender and redirected into the net for an own goal. The Jayhawks answered with goals from Jordan Rowan in the 29th minute and Becca Smith in the 37th to briefly take the lead, but the Mountaineers responded before halftime.
Redshirt freshman Alexis
Ré buried a long-range equalizer from nearly 30 yards out in the 40th minute — her first career goal — to tie the match at 2–2, where it would stay through a physical second half.
Kansas outshot WVU 13–7 and held an 11–1 edge in corners, while Bailey Herfurth recorded three saves in goal.
The Mountaineers move to 9-2-3 overall and 4-0-3 in Big 12 play, extending their unbeaten run to 11 matches. WVU now turns its focus to Kansas State on Sunday to close out the road portion of the regular season. Kickoff is at 2:00PM on ESPN+.
