Ronald Araujo has made no secret of the fact he used to play in attack in his younger days, particularly after scoring a late winner against Girona recently.
The Uruguay international has occasionally been
used as an emergency attacking option during his time at Barcelona but has seemingly revealed why he didn’t continue in the position.
During a Q&A session with the club’s media, he was asked about the best piece of advice he has received in his career and offered up the following response.
“One of my coaches told me: ‘If you play in attack, you’ll be an ordinary player. If you become a centre back, you’ll be world class,” he said.
Araujo has made it clear he’s happy to play anywhere for Hansi Flick’s side and is said to be eager for more minutes after starting Barca’s last three games on the bench.
And Flick may well be tempted to tinker with his backline after seeing his team go seven games in a row without keeping a clean sheet.
