Today’s YouTube trawl landed me a couple videos on the topic of movies — a common topic on my algorithm — including the latest from the ‘Kolo Kino’ channel, which has become one of my favorites in this genre.
Their series on Christopher Nolan was particularly great; now they’re currently going through David Fincher’s work, movie-by-movie.
CinemaStix is another good one, shorter videos, with really annoying titles.
Patrick (H) Willems isn’t always a must-watch, but he’s finally gotten around to making
the same point about Interstellar that a lot of reviewers have made over the past 10 years.
Yes, it’s my favorite movie. But it was my favorite before it was (apparently) cool to be my favorite?
Recently learned that ‘Every Frame A Painting’ is being resurrected as its own channel. The two people behind it have been doing work for other big-name channels instead like this for Criterion — but now they’re going to restart their own channel as well.
And that’s pretty great news. The one they did on Fincher or Edgar Wright are still among the best such video essays.
Talk amongst yourselves.
