Attrition continued for the Texas Longhorns on Tuesday with redshirt freshman cornerback Santana Wilson telling On3Sports that he plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal when the window opens in January.
Wilson prepares to depart the Longhorns program as head coach Steve Sarkisian holds exit meetings with players following the conclusion of the regular season.
A 6’0, 174-pounder, Wilson committed to Texas in the 2024 recruiting class out of Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Mountain over Arizona State. Wilson also received offers from Arizona, BYU, Baylor, Kansas State, Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Washington, among others, finishing the cycle as a consensus four-star prospect ranked as the No. 278 player nationally and the No. 26 cornerback, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. On3 ranked Wilson as a top-100 prospect and the No. 12 cornerback.
After arriving on the Forty Acres, Wilson wasn’t able to impact the depth chart, redshirting in 2024 before playing six snaps on defense against Sam Houston, his only appearance at Texas.
