The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off a comeback win over the New York Jets in Week 1, defeating their former quarterback, Justin Fields and Co., 34-32. Pittsburgh got quality performances from DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin, but could be gearing up to make a trade for an All-Pro wideout in a move that would certainly make their offense more dangerous.
According to Mike Florio, the Steelers are one of two teams (the other being the Chiefs) reportedly interested in acquiring Miami Dolphins wide receiver
Tyreek Hill through a trade.
“There’s already chatter, in the aftermath of Sunday’s win over the Jets, that the all-in Steelers could go even more all-in by making a move for Hill,” Florio writes. “Yes, Pittsburgh already has receiver DK Metcalf, who’s making $30 million per year on a five-year deal. But the Steelers don’t have a clear cut No. 2. Hill would be 1b (if not, at times, 1a) to Metcalf. Why wouldn’t quarterback Aaron Rodgers want Hill? The more potent weapons that Rodgers has at his disposal, the better his first year in Pittsburgh will go. And Rodgers would be able to deliver longer throws to Hill, who hasn’t had a 30-plus yard reception since Week 1 of last year.”
“Also, between Rodgers and coach Mike Tomlin and other veteran leaders, the Steelers could potentially manage Hill, who would likely be so thrilled to get to a contender that he’d be on his best behavior for at least the rest of the season.”
The Dolphins were soundly defeated by Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts 33-8 on Sunday. The vibes have been quite bad with the Dolphins and their star receiver dating back to the 2024 finale, where they lost to… Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. Hill made it clear he wanted out of Miami before recanting that statement. However, after three turnovers from Tua Tagovailoa and a schedule that could have them sitting at 0-3 after three games, a trade would be beneficial for both sides, and the Steelers could try to capitalize on the opportunity.
