TrillerTV+, 8:00 pm ET, CountryBox: Where Music Meets Boxing. From The Texas Troubadour Theatre in Nashville, not that any serious boxing fan needs to be told that. Isaac Carbonell (no relation to Nestor
Carbonell, the guy from Lost that played the mayor in the Christopher Nolan Batman movies) headlines against William Langston. Robbie Cockrell brings the music.
Friday, October 10th
TrillerTV+, 12:00 pm ET, A New Dawn. A JB Promotions show from Dublin, Ireland. The main event is only described on posters and the Triller capsule as “Ryan vs Donovan,” but a filthy casual like me had no idea who specifically they were. It’s Paul Ryan vs Edward Donovan, for anyone else as ignorant as I am about the domestic Irish 10-or-fewer pro fights crowd. Spike O’Sullivan is also on this show.
DAZN, 9:00 pm ET, BoxFest XVI. A Red Owl Boxing show from Commerce, California. May not make the broadcast, but Rashida Ellis (Rashidi’s sister) makes her pro debut on this card. Main event is Deonte Brown (16-0) vs Grimardi Machuca.
Saturday, October 11th
DAZN, 1:00 pm ET, Dream Boxing. From Riga, Latvia. Not clear what the full card is, but it’s a nice little main event between Karen Chukhadzhian and Joel Mafauad. Chukhadzhian is definitively not as good as Boots Ennis, which is true of most everyone within 10 pounds of him. On the other side, Mafauad could be one of those out-of-nowhere Argentinian fighters, but lacks the gaudy KO record that usually accompanies the most exciting versions of the form.
DAZN, 2:00 pm ET, David Allen vs Arslanbek Makhmudov. From Sheffield Arena in the UK. Allen was last seen revitalizing his career after a KO of Johnny Fischer. Scott’s on live coverage for this one, and it won’t take much prompting for him to give you at least 20 heavyweights he ranks better than Makhmudov. Is Allen one of them? You’ll have to join on Saturday to find out! Nice domestic support fight between Reece Bellotti and Josh Padley, too. Free prelims start at 11:30 am ET. BLH will have live updates
DAZN, 8:00 pm ET, Jaron “Boots” Ennis vs Uisma Lima. From Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ennis makes his move up to 154 lbs. against Lima, who Stumberg called “an unheralded upset merchant” and “a reasonably tough introduction” to the weight class. The chief support is Khalil Coe vs Jesse Hart, while locker room standout Guido Vianello attempts to keep the gate against undefeated Canadian Alexis Barriere. BLH will have live updates
