According to ESPN’s lead NFL insider, Adam Schefter, Denver Broncos starting quarterback Bo Nix will be sidelined for 12 weeks after undergoing surgery on his broken right ankle. Nix injured his ankle in the
final plays of their thrilling victory over the Buffalo Bills and underwent surgery on it on Tuesday. Now, he is expected to be sidelined for about four months.
NFL Network’s league insider Ian Rapoport added that the Broncos and Bo Nix received a bit of good news. The surgery revealed that Nix suffered limited ligament damage, and there was no joint surface damage either. So all things considered, things went well for the Broncos and Nix.
With this timeline, Nix should be back for OTAs or, at the very least, only miss a handful of offseason practices and be 100% back for training camp. This will be Nix’s third offseason in Sean Payton’s offense, which is usually the year when things click, so it’s promising that Nix won’t miss much time at all this offseason.
In the meantime, the Broncos will start backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham today in the AFC Championship Game vs. the New England Patriots. Head coach Sean Payton and the team have expressed their confidence in Stiddy all week, and hopefully, he can earn their confidence by leading this team to its first Super Bowl since Super Bowl 50.
He will be going up against the team that drafted him and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who coached him with the Patriots and the Raiders.
There is a lot on the line today for the Broncos and Jarrett Stidham, and hopefully, they can do it for Bo and get the Broncos back into the Super Bowl.
