It’s a brisk, fall afternoon by the lake in Cleveland, Ohio as the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians continue the fight to punch their ticket for the 2026 World Series.
With a Rays victory last night, this series is guaranteed to go at least six games and return to Florida. The results of this afternoon’s game will determine which team is on the back foot and facing elimination tomorrow night.
On the mound for the Rays is the right-handed Drew Rasmussen, who has been one Tampa Bay’s keys to success
this post-season. Starting with a near no-hitter against the Yankees, Rasmussen has anchored the Rays rotation with just two earned runs allowed over 14 innings.
Pitching for the Guardians today is 25-year-old lefty Parker Messick. Messick gave up four earned runs but struck out 11 across 6.2 innings against the Chicago White Sox, but posted his first scoreless start of the post-season against Cleveland in game one of the ALCS.
Tampa Bay Rays (2-2) at Cleveland Guardians (2-2) — 3:08 PM MDT
Pitching Matchup: RHP Drew Rasmussen (1-0, 1.29 ERA) vs LHP Parker Messick (0-2, 3.09 ERA)
