Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
A.J. Epenesa not inclined to discuss “weird situation” with Browns – PFT Before Eagles defensive end A.J. Epenesa landed in Philadelphia, he had a one-year deal worth up to $5 million in place with the Browns. Until he didn’t. The Browns pulled out of the agreement, due to concerns regarding his physical. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Epenesa didn’t want to say much about the Browns. He made it clear that he’s happy to be with the Eagles. “Cleveland,
you know, it was a weird situation,” Epenesa told reporters. “But I don’t necessarily want to go back and talk on that in just a weird sense but I’ll just leave that in the past and just be happy that I’m not a Brown and that I’m an Eagle.”
Eagles Training Camp Practice Notes: Offense out of sync as DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon miss time – BGN
WR Makai Lemon (hamstring). Lemon’s injury also isn’t considered serious. But the rookie wide receiver previously missed at least four of the Eagles’ eight spring practices due to a hamstring injury (currently unclear if it’s the same one or a new one). And now he’s missed full team drills in two of their five training camp practices thus far. Doesn’t seem ideal if he’s out for extended period of time.
Stock up, stock down after the first week of 2026 Eagles training camp – PhillyVoice
STOCK DOWN — WR Makai Lemon: I hate to put rookies on this part of the list after just five practices, but leaving Lemon off of it would be a pretty glaring omission. Lemon missed half of spring practices with a hamstring injury, and he’s on the shelf four practices into camp again with… another hamstring injury. Before he suffered his second hamstring injury, Lemon was quiet during the first three practices. He entered camp as the favorite to be the second-most targeted receiver, but he’s not that anymore. TE Eli Stowers: If we put Lemon on this list, we probably have to put Stowers on it, too, since he has been every bit as quiet.
Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee are in a competition for QB2 duties. And they’re trying to embrace it. – Inquirer
Sixteen years into his NFL career, Andy Dalton has seen just about everything. But this training camp — his first with the Eagles — is unlike any Dalton has participated in before. Dalton, 38, is competing with incumbent Tanner McKee to back up Jalen Hurts. That isn’t a new phenomenon for Dalton. He hasn’t been a full-time starter since 2019, his ninth and final year with the Cincinnati Bengals, the team that drafted him 35th overall in 2011. What is unfamiliar, however, is that Dalton doesn’t know when it’s his turn to take reps with the second-string offense in team drills. Neither does McKee. Both quarterbacks wait for orders from their coaches before one or the other joins the huddle. At first, Dalton had questions about how they would split reps. Now, he’s accepted the surprise element of their current situation, which is reminiscent of game days for the backup quarterback. “I was joking with Tanner, I was like, ‘This is just real life right here,’” Dalton said Tuesday. “‘You don’t know when you’re going to be going in.’”
2026 Philadelphia Eagles training camp: Latest intel, updates – ESPN
It’s important to note that new plays are being installed in the early portion of camp, so it makes sense why the offensive operation can look rough in spots. It’s no coincidence that the offense’s breakout day on Monday was a review of plays that had been installed previously. In other words, patience is required.
An incredible full-circle story with Uar Bernard and Arnold Ebiketie – NBCSP
Most people in the football world learned about Uar Bernard during the pre-draft process when the Nigerian’s incredible athleticism began to go viral. Not Arnold Ebiketie. The veteran edge rusher has known about Bernard for years and actually coached him at an NFL Africa camp in Kenya back in April of 2023. Three years later, they’re teammates in Philly. “I was actually looking the other day at some of the videos from back three years ago,” Ebiketie said after practice on Tuesday. “It’s fun to see him. He was not that big back then. But it’s fun to see him. He’s developing pretty well. He’s getting accustomed to the system and everything. “Obviously, he’s a freak of nature. The more he can get better and understand the scheme and everything, the better he’s going to be.”

Best NFL team fits for notable remaining free agents: Stefon Diggs to NFC East? – NFL.com
Gregg Rosenthal 101 ranking: Unranked. Ertz doesn’t want the final play of his phenomenal career to be tearing his ACL, and he’s set for his 14th NFL season, having been cleared for all football activities, ESPN reported on Aug. 4. Last season, Tommy Tremble and Ja’Tavion Sanders combined for 56 catches in Carolina. Ertz had 50 catches for Washington in 13 games. The last tight end with 50-plus catches in a season for the Panthers is calling games in the booth now — Greg Olsen (2019). Providing Bryce Young with a trusty veteran tight end in a pivotal campaign for the quarterback would be a boon for his confidence and maturation, and likely the same for a very young receiving corps. Other options: Buccaneers, Patriots, Saints.
Falcons training camp Day 6 news, standouts, interviews, injuries – The Falcoholic
EDGE DeAngelo Malone was placed on reserve/PUP today. In a corresponding move, the team signed DT Marlon Tuipulotu. [BLG Note: You may recall Tuipulotu is a former Eagles draft pick who returned to Philly’s final mandatory minicamp practice on a tryout basis back in the spring.]
Cobie Durant is playing like the Cowboys’ best cornerback – Blogging The Boys
Calling anyone the best or worst anything right now after a handful of practices is making quite the mountain out of barely a mole hill, but facts are facts to this point. And at this point Durant is flashing more than anybody else and had a particularly strong showing during the group’s first padded practice on Monday. The mothership’s Patrik Walker caught a great video of his interception that really shows how he managed to focus all the way through the play and pick off Dak Prescott.
Bill Croskey-Merritt committed to being an asset in Commanders pass game – Hogs Haven
Commanders running back Bill Croskey-Merritt wasn’t involved much in the pass game last season. He had just nine catches for 68 yards on 13 targets, stats that show a lack of production, opportunity and (let’s just say it) trust from the coaching staff to use the rookie in those situations. That wasn’t a massive shock, considering Croskey-Merritt didn’t do much receiving in college, either. He had just seven receptions for New Mexico in 2023, his last full collegiate season after odd eligibility issues essentially nullified his 2024 campaign at Arizona. The Commanders pushed him to improve as a receiver and a pass protector in 2026, and are testing him in those areas during training camp.
QB tiers: NY Giants’ Jaxson Dart ranked No. 24 by coaches, executives – Big Blue View
The New York Giants are at something of crossroads in 2026. They’re hoping that the combination of quarterback Jaxson Dart and head coach John Harbaugh can lift the team back to competitiveness. The rest of the NFL seems to be taking a “wait and see” approach, particularly with respect to Dart. The Athletic released itsannual Quarterback Tiers list on Tuesday, ranking the all 35 veteran quarterbacks expected to play significant snaps in 2026. Dart ranked 24th on the list, just below names like Daniel Jones, Bryce Young, and Kyler Murray. The Athletic constructed the list by polling 50 coaches and executives from around the NFL, keeping their responses anonymous.
NFL Reacts: Balancing play time in the preseason – SB Nation
It is officially injury season in the NFL. Just as fans around the league get their first glimpse of the new team, the players who make up that team start to fall by the wayside. There is no silver bullet solution to keeping players healthy and on the field, for the most part it really just comes down to luck. But that doesn’t make it feel any better. The one place that organizations and coaching staffs do have some control is over the preseason playing time. It’s been a constant evolution and a good amount of contradiction. As the league adds another preseason game, starters see less and less of the field during those games. For the NFL Reacts survey this week we want to know what your theory of the case is in regards to preseason playing time. Should starting and key players be on the field as much as it takes to be in midseason form by Week 1? Should they be bubble wrapped for safe keeping until the games actually count? Maybe somewhere in between.
