Gabriel Jesus has landed at FC Barcelona. He got off the mark with a goal against Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League after arriving from Arsenal FC.
And now that he’s settled in, he’s making headlines with his opinions. In a new interview, Jesus was asked whether his teammate, Lamine Yamal, should win the Ballon d’Or, football’s highest individual prize.
“Yes, for sure. Based on his football and the season, I think Lamine is in a position to win it,” the Brazilian said.
Yamal is one of the favorites
to take home the award, although Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane has led many betting sites’ odds.
Jesus may be opting for his teammate instead of Kane or Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid, who has been mentioned as a potential candidate.
“Everything he does, he does it easy—he makes it look very easy,” Jesus said of Yamal.
“I’ve had the opportunity to train with great players, and he is another one of those I’ve trained and played with—he is one of them.”
