Bayern Munich emerged victorious in the Santiago Bernabeu after a 2-1 win over Real Madrid. The Bavarians productivity in chance creation was put down by their poor finishing as they return home with a slim lead. Striker Harry Kane believes that Bayern can get the job done come next week.
Post the 1-2 victory against Real, Harry Kane was seen staring on into the stands hosting the travelling supporters as he appeared to drink in the win. Football on TNT caught up with the England international to get
his perspective after the end of the game.
Interviewer: And what were you doing? Staring, taking it all in?
Harry Kane: That was where my family is sitting. Trying to find my wife and my family but couldn’t quite… So they are somewhere.
The uncertainty of a single goal lead
The result against Real Madrid while deserved should come off as satisfactory only to the Bavarian camp. The plethora of chances wasted has put Real Madrid in a position they like to be in. With only one goal behind, their strategy to sit back and counter-attack is suited to hunt down slim leads. Acknowledging the task ahead, Kane remained confident in Bayern’s ability to see off Real.
Interviewer: You take this back home now. Are you confident you’ll see this out, reach the semifinal?
Harry Kane: Yeah, we have… As always, it’s a one-goal lead. It can change really quick. So yeah, we have the weekend now, just about recovering, focusing on that.
What should be Bayern’s strategy for the second leg? Should they repeat the pattern of rigid control from the start or should they take the pressing intensity down a notch to conserve more energy towards the end of the game?
