Season plans can change in a flash.
That appears to be the case for Bayern Munich youngster Jonah Kusi-Asare. Earlier in the preseason, the 18-year-old was touted as a possible backup to Harry Kane, and it looked as if he might just stick around in the senior team.
But Bayern’s transfer plans — or loan, as it were — appear to have settled on Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. The 24-year-old Senegalese international is now poised instead to spell Kane, and that means Kusi-Asare will need to depart for
playing time. Whether that means a move abroad or an opportunity within the Bundesliga is not yet known.
Sky Germany reporter Kerry Hau has the report — as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
After he was planned to stay as a Harry Kane back-up, Jonah Kusi-Asare is now again a candidate to leave Bayern before Monday’s deadline. Bayern and the player’s camp are exploring the market for a loan move. PSV, Slavia Prague and Werder Bremen are among clubs showing interest [@kerry_hau]
From a Bayern perspective, this could be the best move for all parties. Jackson has two solid years of experience at Chelsea and one year of starting for Villarreal in La Liga before that — hitting double-digits in league goals in each of the past three seasons while adding a handful of assists. That kind of production offers more assurance behind Kane than a youngster just breaking into the first team. And for Kusi-Asare, the chance for more playing time could turn out to be a boon for his development.
