Former UFC welterweight Mike Perry was supposed to fight ex-Bellator bozo Dillon Danis for Duel Arena in Orlando, but Danis suffered a late injury and was replaced by UFC veteran Brandon Jenkins
. Perry ended up dislocating his shoulder during their headlining bout and was eventually stopped by way of technical knockout.Jenkins, like Ian Garry before him, wants credit for the fight-ending sequence.
“He never threw a punch that uncorked his shoulder,” Jenkins told MMA Junkie. “So, everybody watches
this 15-second clip from Duel Arena or whatever. If you watch the fight, I’m popping him with right hands, spinning elbows. He has a collar tie, and he’s uppercutting me. I left-elbow him, and the arm that is on my head, him collar-tying me, blows out. I land the last strike on his head, and his shoulder pops out. They’re trying to paint this picture of me, just trying to discredit what I did. I covered up from all the uppercuts, and I left-elbowed him; then his shoulder came out. So, I dislocated his shoulder. I followed up with malicious intent, and I don’t feel bad about it at all.”
Perry admits he has “more work to do” following the loss.
“It’s just wild to me people are just super disrespectful for no reason, because all I do is I show up, and I try my best – and I smile, and I get real bloody for everybody,” Jenkins continued. “I’m sure there’s a hardcore part of the fanbase that appreciates my style. I would like to do the Mike Perry rematch, but I don’t know how long shoulders take to heal. I’m hearing sometimes it’s six months to a year. I know that MVP is supposed to come back in like January-ish. Like, December, January. Maybe Mike will be healed up enough for that.”
Jenkins (19-12) also defeated Nate Diaz cosplayer Chris Avila at MVP MMA 1 last May.
There’s no telling where Perry (15-9) will end up after his Duel Arena loss. “Platinum” has teased a return to UFC but also has some unfinished business with BKFC, depending on whether or not he can mend fences with promotion president David Feldman. As for his shoulder, Perry is expected to be back in action by early 2027.
